“I seriously can’t count how many egotistical personalities have I worked with in the creative industry that are not capable of doing the work they claim. Over confidence is actually more of an issue now and not put in the hours and pay respect to really crafting a good job.
I believe truly confident people question themselves continuously, their attention to their craft is brewed from self doubt. That is what creates greatness.”
Let’s separate these 2 issues of talent and belief in self. You can be talented and insecure and talented and confident. You can also be talented and a total jerk.
One automatically assumes that when we talk about confidence the arrogant A-hole that is ego driven comes to mind. And if you’ve ever worked with one then the reaction seems pretty reasonable.
Truly confident people have a good sense of who they are, have a strong sense of their strengths and weaknesses. They put others at ease, nothing to prove, accepting of others, present to who they are, and are comfortable in their own skin. Truly confident people don’t try to prove anything to anyone. When I think of confidence I think of the Dalai Lama and less Donald Trump.
Overly “confident” people aren’t actually confident at all. They are overcompensating for their insecurities just like the way Bullies appear on the surface.
