When a Client Doesn’t Want to Pay Your Full Rate (Don’t give in)

What do you say when a client asks for something outside of the original agreement? What do you do when a client asks for extra work? As a freelancer, how do you negotiate the terms for work outside of scope?

“It’s just one more thing. Is it that hard?”
“I swear there’s more work coming down the line.”
“Why does it cost so much more?”
“Where did that price come from?”

In this roleplay segment, Aaron (the client) is trying to negotiate a lowball offer to Chris (photographer/videographer). In this sequence, you can hear Chris try to negotiate and make concessions to make it work but ultimately walks away because the client wanted too much for too little.

It’s ok to say no.
It’s ok to walk away.

Don’t give away your work for free.
