The Moving Finger: A Performative Lecture with Agnieszka Polska | MoMA LIVE

This “performative talk” by artist Agnieszka Polska takes her video “Future Days” as a point of departure in a discussion of mechanisms of legitimization and exclusion in language, consciousness, and art history. In the video, Polska creates a phantasmagoric image of a heaven inhabited by dead artists, who represent the avant-garde. The heavenly land becomes a stage for eternal discussions between the deceased, who never had a chance to meet during their lives; artists from Western Europe or North America, such as Charlotte Posenenske, Lee Lozano, or Bas Jan Ader, are confronted with such Eastern European colleagues as artist Włodzimierz Borowski and theoretician Jerzy Ludwiński.
