Lucien Kroll – Spontaneous Cities and Gardens

Lecture date: 2002-10-29

Lucien Kroll, of Atelier dArchitecture et dUrbanisme, Brussels, is well known for his community architecture, particularly his buildings at the Medical Faculty at the Catholic University of Louvain and the restructuring of Modernist ZUP housing estates. More recently he has turned his attention to the place of the spontaneous garden in the decolonized city. In this lecture he reflects on the freedom of choice and action that this offers as an alternative to ubiquitous landscape architecture.
