Chris Leong and Dominic Leong, LEONG LEONG



A webcast lecture by Chris Leong and Dominic Leong, organized by the MIT NOMAS chapter, from April 30, 2020, as part of an ongoing stream of online departmental programming. LEONG LEONG’s lecture, “Bio-Trust: On Insides and Outsides,” reflected on ten years of practice and the studio’s ongoing research into informal and formal collectivities.

LEONG LEONG investigates the ways in which form, organization, and materiality shape our lives and social institutions. The office designs buildings, masterplans, furniture, interiors, and exhibitions across a range of geographies from NY to LA and from Europe to Asia. The firm’s work has been exhibited and commissioned by international institutions including the Guggenheim Museo Bilbao, MoMA, Venice Architecture Biennale, Oslo Architecture Triennale, Sharjah Biennale, and the MAK Center. Leong Leong has received wide recognition, including the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices Award, the AIA New York’s New Practices Award, and Dezeen’s Emerging Architect of the Year Shortlist in 2019.

CHRISTOPHER LEONG, received his Master of Architecture from Princeton University and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. Chris is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. He is board member of Triple Canopy, a publication that encompasses digital works of art and literature, public conversations, exhibitions, and books.

DOMINIC LEONG, received his Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and his Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Dominic is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. He has been invited to speak about Leong Leong’s work at a wide range of institutions.
