“Don’t just enter the music, but descend into its depths. A bone-deep listening…”
On 10 September, Ain Bailey and interdisciplinary writer, artist, editor and curator Imani Mason Jordan (fka Robinson) performed Atlantic Railton: LIVE at the 2021 Serpentine Pavilion, designed by Sumayya Vally of Counterspace.
This live event was an extension of Bailey’s sound work, Atlantic Railton, commissioned by Serpentine Civic Projects for Listening to the City: a programme that engaged with the sonic landscapes of London neighbourhoods. Listen to the sound work here [link to be added].
Imani Mason Jordan (fka Robinson) performed a lyrical response that drew on transcripts from Bailey’s commission and wove in text fragments concerning spatial politics, architecture and Black geographies. A live DJ set by Rabz Lansiquot followed the performance.
