Part of the MIT Department of Architecture Fall 2014 Public Lecture Series titled “Experiments in Architecture”
Spaces of learning are changing radically as a result of the internet revolution, online education, and the democratization of information. Among other things, this has led us from a culture of specialization to interdisciplinary collaborations, with teams of experts coming together to form much more sophisticated pedagogies for ever-more complex societal challenges. This lecture will speak to three different institutions, each with broad ambitions in changing their way of learning and sharing information. The lecture will inspect new technologies, organizations, and the question of flexibility in a time where budgets and economies are being challenged in more stringent ways. So, too, this is an opportunity to think of the new ‘Space of Learning’ to become a didactic instrument, to teach by way of example, and to become a form of built pedagogy.
