Why this artist collects “Cash 4 Cars” | Artists Make New York: Nick Relph



You’ve surely seen them everywhere: on light poles, street signs, underpasses, and on the side of the freeway. “Cash 4 Cars” signs, omnipresent in New York and cities across the country, are endlessly fascinating to artist Nick Relph. We joined Relph on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn to scan these signs, part of his process for works like those in “The Gatherers” on view at MoMA PS1 through October 6, 2025.
