‘Place instead of country; place is an environment which gives life and receives life. It consists of dreamings, animals, plants and people.’ Geographer Tim Unwin discusses the relationship between architecture, ethics and place. He examines three key themes: ethics and cultural constructions of place; moral geographies; and ethical considerations of distant places.
Tim Unwin is Reader in Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is the author of The Place of Geography and editor of the journal Ethics, Place and Environment. He was Honorary Secretary of the Royal Geographical Society from 1995 to 1997.
