Stories about art, told by kids, animated by artists.
In the first episode of Once Upon an Artwork, sisters Phoebe and Gia enter the dream world of Leonora Carrington’s 1953 painting “And Then We Saw the Daughter of the Minotaur,” where they find a magical rose, some unexpected animals, and a special potion.
This animated video series uses works of art in MoMA’s collection as a jumping off point for children to imagine, play, seek adventure, and create worlds. We record kids looking at works of art and then an animator brings their unique vision and storytelling to life.
