souk: the comeback. After a year of renovations, the Society for Arts and Technology |SAT| will once again open its doors for take 8 of the souk @ sat from Friday 8 to Sunday 11, December 2011.
A public meeting place
souk@sat is THE place where creators and the public meet up around an abundance of MADE IN MONTREAL contemporary creations. Since 2003, between 6,000 and 8,000 visitors converge here each year. Apartment and togetherness
The founder of souk @ sat—Azamit—and
the co-founder and advisor—Bruno Ricciardi-Rigault—and their selection committee gather close to a 100 artists/designers and other hybrid creators in the open space of the |SAT|, transformed for the occasion into a huge apartment-loft. On the upper floor of the |SAT|, get a taste of the new Foodlab and its Market initiated by Frédéric Gauthier. In 2003, Azamit and Bruno Ricciardi-Rigault founded the souk @ sat. Azamit is one of the most sought-after and respected stylist and art directors in the country. She is active in the fashion and design domain. Bruno Ricciardi-Rigault acts as a counselor for the souk @ sat and has been shaking-up the famed Laïka for the more than 10 years. He was producer-booker of the SAT Space from 2000 to 2004. Each year the souk organizers invite representatives from the cultural milieu to sit on the selection committee of participating of creators. SAT
For over 15 years Society for arts and technology |SAT|, a creation and research centre, has been dedicated to research and creation, production, education, and the dissemination of digital culture. With the Sensorium, the |SAT| now houses the world’s first permanent immersive theatre dedicated to artistic creation and 360° visualization activities: the Satosphere; a terrace and culinary creation lab: the FoodLab with its reputed chefs and young recruits.
