Ryoji Ikeda, Carsten Nicolai – Cyclo Sonotecture

A collaborative presentation by Ryoji Ikeda, Japans top avant-garde electronic composer and a member of the artists collective dumb type, and Carsten Nicolai, a German electronic-music composer, who have joined forces to make the Cyclo CD. Cyclo, released in 2001, features selective use of automated processes like the overlapping of loops or their falsification through wrong calculations or incorrect condensation algorithms, errors and translation into rudimentary rhythmic constellations.
