Royal Gold Medal 2024 for architecture – Professor Lesley Lokko announced as winner



Professor Lesley Lokko, Ghanaian-Scottish architect, educator, author and curator has been announced as the recipient of the Royal Gold Medal 2024 by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

The Royal Gold Medal is one of the world’s highest honours in architecture, and is presented on behalf of His Majesty the King. It recognises Lokko’s commitment to championing diverse approaches to architectural practice and education.

In this film, Professor Lokko is joined by peers, friends, her mentor and RIBA’s President to tell the story of her remarkable career, including the founding of the African Futures Institute in Accra, Ghana.
