Rebuilding city living and social connectivity

Part of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Global small talks programme, this “in conversation” style event attracted a global audience.

Hosted by award-winning RIBA Chartered Architect and on-screen designer from CBBC Dengineers Satwinder Samra, the event saw a collaborative discussion across creative industries.

Stephanie Edwards is an elected Council member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and founder of Urban Symbiotics in London. They are leading on a regeneration framework in Croydon, working on the UN Habitat’s Future Cities Programme and ‘re-imagining’ the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton. Stephanie presented her passion for meaningful, community engagement and the importance of place-makers to know the needs of the country and locality they are working with.

Joining Stephanie was award-winning record producer and founding mender of both The Human League and Heaven 17 Martyn Ware. Martyn is also co-founder of Illustrious – specialists in public soundscape projects. We heard straight talking from Martyn with a call for more pop-up spaces and to replace ambient noise with something more beautiful.
