Nora Schultz – BMW Tate Live: Performance Room

Nora Schultz presents Terminal +, a new work that explores the hyper-real and detached nature of cyberspace.
For this work Schultz references Steven Spielberg’s film Terminal, where a man finds himself trapped in an American airport terminal when refused entry to the US and simultaneously unable to return to his own country after his nationality status is declared invalid. In this work, Tate’s Performance Room becomes a liminal terminal to cyberspace, where Schultz plays the part of the protagonist stationed within the terminal, deconstructing its foam-lined interior, using sections of the foam to then print their folded shapes on the floor and walls of the room.
