Drawing inspiration from their client’s camper van travels, HEIMAT studio has crafted a versatile, adaptable home, designed to accommodate work from home, exercise, musical pursuits and hosting guests. By removing several internal walls and inserting a single piece of birch plywood furniture spanning the length of the apartment, HEIMAT created an open plan kitchen, dining and living space. A large birch ply kitchen unit takes up a full wall, extending into a dining nook at one end, with a central kitchen island serving as the hub of the open plan home. Within the original passage, a transforming “flexible room” was effortlessly transitions from an office space into a guest room by the lowering of a Murphy bed, with hidden curtains providing privacy as needed.
