Material Resizer for SketchUp

Material resizer is a brand new extension from Trimble that allows you to quickly view and resize all of the different materials in your SketchUp models. This is especially effective for reducing the size of your models, and for managing the materials from models you’ve downloaded from the 3D Warehouse!

This is a very simple tool, but I think that it’s absolutely vital and I’m very happy that Trimble has released it.
What it does is that you run the extension, then it gives you a list of all the materials contained within your Sketchup model, as well as information about the size of those materials.
This is very valuable, as one of the things that really slows a SketchUp model down is the size of the materials in the model.
However, what makes this even more valuable is that not only can you view the size of the materials contained in your model, you can also RESIZE those same materials.
There are a couple places this would be valuable. First, and probably most important to day to day users, would be the ability to reduce material sizes within models from the 3D warehouse. The reason for this is that you currently don’t really have any control over the way that objects in the 3D Warehouse are modeled, so sometimes you’ll find a model in the Warehouse you want to use, and it will be really big and really slow.
Usually this is for one of two reasons – either the geometry is heavy, or the images making up the textures in the model are heavy.
Now it’s really easy to download a model, find all the materials over a certain size, and resize them.
