For an artist of Joan Jonass standing, its hard to believe that this is her first time exhibiting at the Venice Biennale.

In her show at the Arsenale she presented a single work entitled ‘Reading Dante’, the result of a long-standing fascination with ‘The Divine Comedy’. In keeping with her diverse practice, the installation featured sculptural elements alongside film, performance and drawings.

Here, Jonas talks about how she relishes the freedom to work in any medium.
