Imagining a Resilient Future

PUBLIC LECTURE
Imagining a Resilient Future

Presented by the PREPARE Research Group, the Planning Institute of Australia (Victoria) and the Melbourne School of Design.

Wednesday 9 November
The Singapore Theatre, Melbourne School of Design
University of Melbourne

The first seminar established core ideas and questions about resilience. It also demonstrated that there is a real need to broaden our understandings of the risks we face, and to develop creative and innovative approaches to deal with these new, complex and “wicked” threats.

In keeping with the intention to adapt the talks as we progress, Talk 2 – “Imagining a Resilient Future” – will present new ideas, good examples, and more hopeful directions for us to apply resilience in the built environment.

The seminar series will evolve with the nature of the discussions and ideas raised, and as such, the specific topics and speakers will be determined following initial discussions. We hope to ensure this keeps the talks relevant and fresh. Your input will help inform our directions.

Speakers:

A/Prof Alan March is Associate Dean (under-graduate), and Director of Bachelor of Environments and Bachelor of Design, School of Design.
Dr Andrea Rawluk is an Academic, Ecosystem and Forest Sciences, University of Melbourne.
Deborah Riley is Principal, Resilience at Melbourne Water.
Dr Seona Candy is a Research Fellow with the Victorian Eco-Innovation Lab (VEIL), University of Melbourne.
