One of the most accepted narratives about Frank Lloyd Wright is that he was extremely sensitive to the native ecologies surrounding his building projects. Therese O’Malley and Jennifer Gray discovered in their research that Wright frequently used foreign plants in his landscape designs and that discussions about ecology often entered into much larger political discourses about race, immigration, and what it means to be native to a particular area.
