FEATHR Launches New Wallpaper Collection Featuring the Remarkable Landscape Paintings of Tamara Piilola
FEATHR
New collection marks the first time renowned Finnish painter has collaborated with an interiors brandÂ
Helsingfors, Finland, 2018-05-16 –
Design collective FEATHR is on a mission to fill the world with more art and less decoration. FEATHR roam the world collaborating with contemporary artists to create original wallpaper and fabrics.
Â
Their latest collaboration is with the renowned Finnish painter Tamara Piilola. Her striking narrative landscapes are created using layers of paint and pure pigment, taking viewers on a journey into mysterious natural environments. Piilola’s works are included in collections such as the HAM Helsinki Art Museum, the Sara Hildén Art Museum and Didrichsen Art Museum.
Â
FEATHR will be launching four wall murals and wallpapers based on original artworks by Piilola. They include Raindrops, Ornament, Delta (The Great Reflection) and The Most Beautiful Things Hide.
The Raindrops wallpaper and wall mural features a lush forest scene, dashed through by raindrops catching the light. The original artwork is a diptych of large canvases, painted with oil on canvas. It’s available as a dramatic bespoke-sized wallpaper mural, sized up to 720 cm wide by 300 cm high, or repeatable panels of 150 cm wide by 300 cm high. Colour variants include Vintage Green, Dusk, Blue and Spring.
The Delta (The Great Reflection) wall mural captures in vivid colour a lush forest reflected in a still lake. Mixing imagery of Nordic nature with magical realism, Delta is a true centerpiece wall mural, available bespoke-sized up to 763Â cm wide by 280Â cm high. It comes in a single colour variant: Original.
The Most Beautiful Things Hide wallpaper invites the viewer to ask: what lies beneath? Playfully scattered amongst the painted ivy leaves are spaces for the viewers’ imagination. This design is available as repeatable panels of 150 cm wide by 320 cm high. Colour variants include Summer, Mist, Dusk and Autumn.
The Ornament wall mural captures the breaking of the silence in a Nordic forest. Rough paint strokes are filled with the energy and beat of the birds’ wings. Ornament comes as bespoke-sized wallpaper mural, up to 400 cm wide by 300 cm high. Colour variants include Sky Blue, Fog, Sandstorm and Terracotta.
Tom Puukko, founder of FEATHR, said: “We were drawn to Tamara’s work instantly. Sometimes we find an artist and just know instinctively their work belongs on a wall. Tamara’s work almost demands it is given space, these immense landscape and natural scenes have such depth and nuance that by seeing them at such a large scale you can appreciate their beauty on two levels; as the complete work and close up as fluid and bold brushstrokes. I love that wherever you are in a space you get to engage with the work in a different way.”
The collection is available on substrates suitable for both residential and commercial projects. Wallpaper mural prices start from £49/€59/$69 per square metre. Repeatable wallpaper panels are priced from £129/€149/$169 per panel.

All designs are available exclusively from FEATHR at www.feathr.com or via the FEATHR retail network.
