Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster: Alienarium 5

In this video, hear from artist Dominque Gonzalez-Foerster and Serpentine’s Curator at Large, Claude Adjil, and Artistic Director, Hans Ulrich Obrist, on Gonzalez-Foerster’s exhibition at Serpentine South, ‘Alienarium 5’.

At the core of the exhibition is the question: ‘What if aliens were in love with us?’

Having grown up during a time when science-fiction heavily influenced popular culture, artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is inherently experimental, collaborative and speculative in her work.

Alongside numerous collaborators, the artist has explored this question through sensorial visuals, sound, sculpture and VR. Throughout the show there is a sense of adventure, of crossing thresholds and entering new realms to encounter other-worldly beings, all of which may show us different ways of caring and loving.

‘Alienarium 5’ is open until 4 September 2022 at Serpentine South Gallery.
Admission is free, walk-up or book on our website: https://www.serpentinegalleries.org/whats-on/dominique-gonzalez-foerster-alienarium-5/
