Docu-Dramas: Al Borde

Docu-dramas presents contemporary architects talking about their work, through the kinds of images they would normally exclude from a lecture: ordinary documents like contracts, budgets, estimates, SMS and chat messages, research and administrative files. Narrated, these dull objects can become evidence for the complex and contingent reality of architectural practice embedded in a messy world.

Al Borde was founded in 2007 in Quito by David Barragán, Esteban Benavides, Marialuisa Borja, and Pascual Gangotena. Their work uses local collaborations based on shared purpose and with deep respect for the existing social and material conditions. Their projects include schools and private homes, post-earthquake prototypes and events, and are fundamentally interested in reconsidering and embracing the idea of scarcity.
