Digital graffiti letters, urban art in Illustrator – part 2.
What’s up people, back again as I promised with the second part of how to make digital graffiti letters an urban art in Illustrator video.

In the last episode which you can find linked below, we made an outline for our digital graffiti letters. I used my Wacom tablet to create the Wacom digital graffiti outline but you can do it with the pen tool too, the Wacom is not necessary.
Then we added colour, a shadow and a gradient. This second part focuses mainly on artistic touches and details to finish off the graffiti lettering / urban art.

You will see that adding small details in the right way can really set off a digital graffiti design, the lettering starts to ‘pop’ on the screen and looks 3D. You must imagine a light source and add shading and highlights accordingly, something I talk about in the graffiti tutorial video.

A viewer suggested that I make a video tutorial on how to make digital graffiti letters and I thank that person for the great idea. My aim here was to make it as straight forward as possible and show you hot to make graffiti lettering in Illustrator the best way that I know of. Using Illustrator means using vectors, and if you end up with vector graffiti letters then you can transport your artwork to different medias without the worry of pixelation. Vector graffiti lettering is the best choice in my opinion.

So, graffiti lettering in Illustrator, how have you found this video and walk through? If you really liked it then let me know and give it the thumbs up, I will do similar videos such as this if the response is good and you want more. Hopefully you will have a better understanding of digital graffiti and graffiti letters after this 2 part tutorial.
