GEOGRAPHY AND GENDER, l’evento #Carnival in programma sabato 30 settembre al Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, ha riunito alcune partecipanti che nell’ambito di #TheLaboratoryOfTheFuture si sono occupati specificamente di donne e le cui narrazioni abbracciano diverse geografie.
L’appuntamento ha presentato “You Will Find Your People Here”, un’opera collettiva e interdisciplinare realizzata da Caroline Wanjiku Kihato, dalla compositrice Clare Loveday e dalla pianista Mareli Stolp. La performance combina il pianoforte, la parola e altre forme di vocalità per creare una risposta a testi e testimonianze di donne migranti che vivono attualmente a Johannesburg. A seguire è stata proiettata una breve performance dell’architetta Gugulethu Mthembu.
Due tavole rotonde hanno concluso la giornata. La prima sessione ha coinvolto le performer ed è stata moderata da Elena Ostanel. La seconda sessione, moderata da Loren Landau, ha ospitato Giovanna Marconi e Michela Semprebon.

GEOGRAPHY AND GENDER, the Carnival event scheduled for Saturday 30 September at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, brought together participants whose work in The Laboratory of The Future looks specifically at women and whose narratives encompass different geographies.
The programme included “You Will Find Your People Here”, a collaborative, interdisciplinary work by author Wanjiku Kihato, composer Clare Loveday and pianist Mareli Stolp. The performance combined the piano, the spoken word, and other forms of vocal utterance to create a response to texts and testimonies from migrant women currently living in Johannesburg. Following, a short, filmed performance by the architect Gugulethu Mthembu was screened.
Two panel discussions concluded the day. The first session involved the performers and was moderated by Elena Ostanel. The second session, moderated by Loren Landau, welcomed Giovanna Marconi and Michela Semprebon.
