One man, a tape recorder and a line-up of incredible artists from all over the world.
‘Audio Arts’ was an innovative sound magazine published on cassettes, established by William Furlong in 1973. In 2004 Tate acquired the magazine’s collection of master tapes, including unique recordings of artists, as well as of writers and thinkers – Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, James Joyce and Noam Chomsky amongst them.
TateShots met up with William Furlong in 2011 to delve into the Audio Arts archive.
