Helen Molesworth, the new chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Arts, Los Angeles, narrates this episode as it explores MOCA’s permanent collection and contemporary exhibitions. Molesworth, appointed MOCA’s chief curator on September 1, 2015, is a scholar, art writer, and former chief curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. In this episode, Molesworth discusses topics such as the inspiration behind her passion for art, the depth of the collection at MOCA, assemblage and the Civil Rights Movement, Abstract Expressionism, the historical legacy of a museum’s collection, and the installation, “The Art of Our Time.”

Molesworth guides the episode through the collection of assemblages with works by George Herms and Betye Saar, the Abstract Expressionist collection with works by Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline, the works of Robert Rauschenberg, Mark Rothko, Gabriel Orozco, Senga Nengudi, and a look at the museum’s current exhibition, “River of Fundament” by Matthew Barney. “MOCA: The Art of Our Time” also features Philippe Vergne, the Director of MOCA.
