Adjin Mehanovic: “Dark Side of Light”

Graduate student Adjin Mehanovic created the video “Dark Side of Light” for ARC3016 — a Master of Architecture thesis prep course taught by Professor John Shnier in the winter of 2016.

Adjin writes:

“Darkness, in my mind is very thick, full of depth and overlapping layers. However, at the same time it is quite fragile, beautiful and quite comforting with the introduction of certain amount of light. My thesis explores the idea of using light and shadow as primary elements of design, the first building material. Through the excavation of layers using light we start to uncover and discover new architectural space and form, thus realizing how the absence of light changes our perception of the space we see and occupy.”
