Turn an image into a collection of brushes and customize your design.
Start from scratch, or download the project file containing the sample assets [ https://adobe.ly/3HyKhB8 ] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your file:
1. Open the provided Photoshop file (File – Open).
Create the brushes:
1. Click the Object Selection tool on the toolbar.
2. Click and drag a rectangular marquee around a drip.
3. Go to Edit – Define Brush Preset.
4. Name the brush and click OK.
5. Repeat to make other brushes.
Start with a blank canvas:
1. Choose File – New.
2. Change Background Contents to Custom.
3. Choose your background color in the Color Picker window (we liked #5BB4C0), then click OK.
4. Click Create.
Time to type:
1. Select the Type tool.
2. In the top toolbar, choose your font color (we liked #E5F469).
3. Click on the canvas and type your phrase.
4. Select your text with the Move tool.
5. In the Properties panel, change the angle of the text to -20°.
Add Drips:
1. Click the + icon in the Layers panel to add a new layer.
2. Select the Brush tool.
3. Choose your paint drip brush from the Brush Selection menu.
4. Stamp the paint drips over your words.
5. Hold down the shift key and select both the paint drips layer and the text layer.
6. On the keyboard, press Control+G (Windows) or Command+G (macOS) to group the layers.
Splatter paint:
1. Add a mask to the group.
2. In the top toolbar, open the Brush Selection menu.
3. Open the Special Effects folder.
4. Choose a spatter brush, we chose ‘Kyle’s Spatter Brushes – Pressure Control 2’
5. Paint with black on the mask.
6. Create a new layer.
7. Paint with the same paint drip color over the text.
