2021 International Students Competition winners announced



Reimagining Cities and Towns post-COVID

On 23 February 2022, the winners of the RIBA’s Ideas and Sketches Students Competition were announced live from Dubai Expo 2020. The competition was open to students of universities and schools of architecture validated by the RIBA or invited to participate by the RIBA, in the four international regions: Americas, Asia & Australasia, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Competition winners:
Asia & Australasia region: 2061 Pabulum odyssey by Maxwell Lau Ho Chuen, from The University of Hong Kong

Americas region: Regreening wasted heritage for urban agriculture by Matías Carrillo, Aranza Rubilar and Rosario Burgos, from Universidad del Bío Bío, Chile

Middle East & Africa region: Cascading planes by Samer Elokdah, Youmna El-Ghounemy, Moatazbellah El Behery, from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, Cairo, Egypt

Europe region: Parasitic interchanges by Lorenz Kleemann, from the Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Architecture, France
