Why we need to rethink art history | Tate



When we talk about ‘art history’, what do we really mean? There is so much that Western art tradition has ignored and overlooked. It’s time we started thinking instead about many different art histories.

In this short film, we look at four ways we can rethink our approach to art: from questioning the importance of an artist’s nationality, to learning from Indigenous practices of art-making.
