Where, oh where did my section cuts go?

SketchUp’s Outliner tool displays a model’s objects (groups, components, and section planes) in a hierarchical tree, allowing you to navigate large models, rename objects and section planes, find component instances or section planes, restructure the model hierarchy, and control object visibility.

To open the Outliner, select Window / Outliner from the menu bar. Objects with nested elements display a triangle arrow next to the name. You can expand and close the hierarchy by clicking on the triangle.

The Outliner allows you to rename objects, components, and section planes and find specific objects and section planes by selecting and sorting them by name. Renaming a component definition changes the name of every instance in the model. The Outliner can also help control the visibility of objects.
