Wacom calligraphy design, hand lettering video in both Illustrator and Photoshop.
Calligraphy design is something I thought I would try using with my Wacom tablet, and this time lapse video is what became of my first effort. I have created very little hand lettering let alone creating Wacom calligraphy design, but it is becoming one of my favourite past times, and I am becoming more confident with hand lettering with time.
The Wacom tablet is amazing to work with and I have taken it out again to create some brand new urban style Wacom calligraphy for this hand lettering video, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
I do feel though that I need to brush up on my hand lettering calligraphy still, even though it is coming along ok. Creating a Wacom calligraphy design in Illustrator is a fairly new concept for me at least. I prefer to use the Wacom for hand lettering rather than us paper and a pen, but I guess that is personal preference.
In this illustrator speed art video I got used to using hand lettering brush pens to create a kind of urban calligraphy style within this Wacom design.
I feel that working on Adobe Illustrator on calligraphy works very well because you can practice your brush strokes over and over with the Wacom by just hitting command ‘z’ to go back a step, no need for ink and paper as if you were creating the hand letters the other way.
I then took my Wacom calligraphy design and at the end and place it over various stock images to create new designs. I was very happy with how this digital calligraphy design came out and will be using Adobe Illustrator in the future for others works.
Using the calligraphy pen and brush pen in Illustrator takes getting used to, but once you start to get the hang of it, it becomes really enjoyable creating hand lettering
