Virtual 3D mock-ups are created to represent the actual physical mock-up to be constructed later in the project. They are used as a means to coordinate complex details and work out coordination issues prior to the construction of the mock-up. SketchUp allows contractors and designers to collaborate on a common platform and more efficiently resolve issues before building, minimizing impacts to scheduled work. This presentation will highlight the value of creating virtual 3D mock-ups prior to physical mock-ups and show examples of building envelope details and healthcare patient rooms.
