Tom Sachs, Richard Wentworth – Creativity is the Enemy

Inspired by pop culture, consumerism and branding, New York-based artist Tom Sachs develops bricolages or ‘dub versions’ made from copies of real objects and signs.

Sachs attended the AA in 1987 where he won the AA Furniture Prize before dropping out to learn about motorcycles and salvage working for Tom Dixon. He graduated from Bennington in 1989 and worked for Frank Gehry building chairs for Knoll. He is best known for his controversial Hello Kitty Nativity scene and the installation Nutsys, a 1:25 model of a city.
