SUPRASTUDIO at IDEAS: An Overview

IDEAS is a UCLA Architecture and Urban Design satellite campus that serves as a hub for cross-disciplinary research and development with industry and outside partners to expand the future parameters of architectural practice.

The new facility is home to the expanded SUPRASTUDIO / M. Arch.II program, with studios led by Frank Gehry, Greg Lynn and Thom Mayne. A 5,000-square-foot Advanced Technologies Lab, sponsored in part by Toyota Motor Sales, offers students the opportunity to examine not only how robotics and other technologies can change the way buildings are made, but how to integrate such advanced technologies into architecture and urban design methodology. Other programs at IDEAS include long term research initiatives, a cross-discipline lecture series open to the public, and curatorial projects.
