SOFT and beyond – Arantza Ozaeta Cortázar & Álvaro Martín Fidalgo

8th May 2018

Tutor Lecture Series

Arantza Ozaeta and Alvaro Fidalgo are both architects and founders of the architectural office TallerDE2. A practice understood as a constant dialogue, a battlefield and a meeting point between ‘two’: Spain and Europe, ideas and realisations, research and design, speculation and experience.

The aim of the office is to open a discussion about innovative and speculative Re-actions to Thinning Territories for a Shrink-Age. Shrinkage is happening within the cities, along the countryside and in-between. We infiltrate our practise into this emerging area of opportunity to push forward the architectural, environmental and political discourse.

After winning international competitions, building fourteen projects and being recognised as one of the most relevant emerging practices in Europe, this lecture performs a turning point when this practice turns into SOFT.

Arantza Ozaeta Cortázar and Álvaro Martín Fidalgo are AA Intermediate 4 Unit Masters and founding partners of the architectural office TallerDE2. They have taught in Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia and Taiwan, and one of their main projects is a masterplan for shrinking cities in inner Europe that has been widely awarded.
