On November 15, 2017, urbanists, technologists, and retailers gathered at Sidewalk Labs’ NYC headquarters to discuss how retail can and should impact the street life of our future cities.
Sidewalk Labs’ Designer-in-Residence, Eric Baczuk, kicked off the night with a presentation outlining five provocative scenarios for the future, which was followed by a discussion moderated by Sidewalk Labs’ editorial manager Vanessa Quirk. The panelists — Alana Branston, co-founder and CEO of Bulletin, Susan Fine, principal of OasesRE, and Eric Ho, co-founder of Good Goods — then entered into a conversation that covered a wide range of topics, from the challenges retailers face in terms of zoning and regulations to modular design’s potential to catalyze retail innovation and activate the street.
