“All I had to do was, you know, be born.”
Rene Matić returns to their hometown of Peterborough, telling us about their “obsession with understanding Britishness – or not understanding it”.

Matić works primarily with photography as well as sculpture, textiles, sound and other mediums. Their artwork questions identity, society and how we find a sense of belonging. They are nominated for the Turner Prize 2025 for their solo exhibition AS OPPOSED TO THE TRUTH at CCA Berlin.
