Public London Launch

This evening celebrated the 20th anniversary of the London Festival of Architecture, launching a special retrospective publication, ‘Public London: Activating the City’.

Building on the NLA’s 2015 ‘Public London’ study, the publication looks back at some of the momentous projects of the last two decades that have helped transform London’s public realm and consider how the festival has elevated public places through cultural placemaking, place activation and meanwhile uses.

Drawing upon the lessons learned, the publication integrates an action orientated toolkit aimed at all placemakers – designers, developers, local authorities and communities – to guide the design and activation of public spaces.
