Here today I have a Pokemon digital art time lapse video, digitally drawing and inking the Pokemon Mew.
This speed art video is a time lapse that spans across 3 days where I created this digital art. We enter the virtual reality world of Pokemon for this speed art video. If you have ever played the original Gameboy Pokemon games, you will know how illusive and mysterious the Pokemon ‘Mew’ was. I used to love playing Pokemon the card game as well as the computer games, and with the new rise of Pokemon again, I revisited my childhood with this digital art project.
Mew is a very bubbly adorable and cute Pokemon and in this speed art I have tried to encapsulate that. The artwork does follow the typical style of Pokemon and Pokemon Go I feel, and using the Adobe software was a lot of fun as well as working efficiently for designing this Pokemon.
I started on the Wacom tablet and draw over some simple guides I set up, mainly shapes to show the head, body arms and legs. From there I created the design in a vector format and then added typography and circular shapes surrounding the Pokemon in Adobe illustrator.
I then used the Wacom tablet to sketch a rough outline of the Pokemon, later tweaking it and adding vector details in illustrator.
I was very pleased with the final outcome and intend to start another project similar in design at a later date. Let me know what you guys think of this video.
