The lecture will introduce the evolution of Inside Outside and its team – how the studio developed from a one-woman unit into a small, professional studio which collaborates with architecture and the architect. Ms. Blaisse will explain the domain in which Inside Outside works – interiors and exteriors. She will examine the emancipation of the curtain, the philosophy of the garden and the interior tracing back to the 16th and 17th centuries, and will conclude with the development of the urban garden and what it means for Inside Outside to work in the inheritance of this development.
Dutch designer Petra Blaisse works in a multitude of creative areas, including textile, landscape and exhibition design. She founded Inside Outside in Amsterdam in 1991.
