Paul Hirst – Fortification as Architecture

Paul Hirst is the author of several seminal works of social and political theory including Representative Democracy and its Limits; Associative Democracy; and Globalisation in Question (co-authored with Grahame Thompson). In 1972, Hirst co-founded the School of Politics and Sociology at Birkbeck, University of London, where he is Professor of Social Theory. In 1995 he became the Founding Director of the London Consortium which he co-founded with Mark Cousins, Patrick Humphreys, and Colin MacCabe.
