UVA School of Architecture’s Dean Malo A. Hutson provides a welcoming introduction to Pavilion IX, his more than 200-year-old home on the Grounds of the University of Virginia. Ten Pavilions, designed by Thomas Jefferson, are part of UVA’s historic Academical Village and have served as residences and classrooms. Today, nine Pavilions are still used for faculty and administrator housing, while the tenth, Pavilion VII, serves as the Colonnade Club, a faculty club.
Malo A. Hutson, Ph.D., MCP, Dean and Edward E. Elson Professor at UVA’s School of Architecture, is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the areas of community development, climate resilience, environmental justice, and urban health.
