Messages from Shanghai architects – Coping with COVID-19 | Peter Marshall, BDP

Peter Marshall – RIBA member and Architect Director for BDP, based in Shanghai, China. Peter shows the city of Shanghai from the perspective of BDP’s office building. The city is now back open for business, busy with traffic, people and business. He reflects back on how China’s cities reacted to the restrictions due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the impact of people staying at home and the staged return to normal working life for national and international companies based in China. Architectural practices have adapted and are working differently with clients, as well as within the staff body.

His message for architects across the world: “Right now, times are complicated. But I think we’ll get through. We architects are going to be in great need – even more – when life settles down… we will have an even more important role to play when this world virus is passed through.”
