Massive Model Management – Dr. Matthew Nicholls | 3D Basecamp 2018

University of Reading
Professor of Classics

Dr. Matthew Nicholls teaches ancient history at Reading University in the UK, where he has been working on a large-scale digital model of ancient Rome built in SketchUp. Researching, creating, and managing a city-scale model has thrown up a number of challenges. In this talk, Matthew will cover some of his workflows for modeling on a huge scale, including importing and working with mapping resources, creating and editing a large terrain model, working with plugins and shortcuts for creating (lots of) buildings, file and content management, working with groups and layers, and planning to match modeling input and organization to desired output.
