This tutorial will teach you how to download and install new plugins in SketchUp using the extension warehouse, as well as how to manage extensions with SketchUp 2017’s extension manager.
To access the extension warehouse, click on window, then extension warehouse.
You can log in using your Trimble username and password. This allows you to access a list of all the extensions that you’ve downloaded and installed, as well as extensions you’ve downloaded in the past that are not currently installed.
The extension warehouse also will create a list of suggested extensions based on the extensions you’ve used in the past.
The front page contains an area where you can search for extensions, as well as a list of the top extensions in the warehouse currently.
To install an extension, simply click on the name of an extension, then click the red “Install” button to install it in SketchUp.
One of the features that was upgraded as a part of SketchUp 2017 was the addition of an extension manager. This manager allows you to easily manage which plugins are installed, and enable and disable the different plugins.
When you pull up your extension manager, it will show you a list of all the extensions installed on your computer, as well as the option to enable or disable each extension. You can enable or disable extensions by clicking the “Enabled/Disabled” toggles on the right side of the page and clicking the “Apply changes” button.
In order for these changes to take place, you will have to restate SketchUp.
You can also update and uninstall extensions by going to the “Manage” tab at the top of the page.
Sometimes, you have extensions that you install from a separate location where you directly download and load extension files from your PC.
In order to do this, click the “Install extension” button at the bottom of the page. This will open a window allowing you to locate the extension file on your PC to install on your computer.
That’s where I’m going to end this tutorial. If you liked this video, please click that like button below. If you’re new, click the subscribe button for new SketchUp tutorials every week. Thanks for watching!
