Architect Marina Tabassum (Marina Tabassum Architects) and Serpentine Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist discuss the 2025 Serpentine Pavilion.
They speak about how Tabassum came to architecture, her advice to a young architect and the idea behind the Pavilion’s central courtyard, which aligns with Serpentine South’s bell tower.
The Pavilion’s title, ‘A Capsule in Time’, reflects its elongated, capsule-like shape. Inspired by summer park-going and arched garden canopies that filter soft daylight through green foliage, the structure is comprised of four wooden sculptural forms with a translucent façade that diffuses and dapples light.
