As many of you may remember, Flex Tools is an extension for SketchUp that contains a number of different dynamic components. These components can be adjusted to quickly change options, size, and much more.

In the newest release, they’ve added glass doors to their collection. I’m actually really happy to see this, because glass doors are one of the things I’ve wasted a ton of time on in the past. There’s just a lot of geometry creation that can take a lot of extra time. This makes creating glass doors a lot easier.

Once you add one of these doors into your model, you can right click on them to edit their attributes. One interesting thing about these components is that you actually edit them differently depending on the level in which you’re inside your component.

For example – the first level lets you edit the overall size of your opening. This will include any sidelites, etc that you’ve added to your door.

The second level is where you adjust your door and frame settings. For example, this is where you can add sidelites and more. These doors allow for a single sidelite on either side of your frame, a sidelite on each side of your frame, and/or a lite above your door.

Note that the height and width of your sidelites adjust dynamically if you use the scale tool, meaning you can dictate your door opening size, then move everything else around them.

By clicking in to the glass sash level, you can also adjust the style of the glazing on the door – there are 20 different presets you can try.

Finally, there are also a number of different hardware sets you can download from the 3D Warehouse.
