Archipelago takes inspiration from the Swedish Season and Nature

Stockholm, Sweden, 2016-02-01 –

From cool early spring to golden autumn, Gunilla Lagerhem has captured the archipelago’s ever changing landscape in Kasthall’s new design Archipelago 2016. Based on Gunilla’s characteristic design process, where beautiful sketches in water colour are the starting point, Kasthall now presents Archipelago March and Archipelago November – hand-tufted carpets made with the finest wool and linen with shimmering lurex details.

The goal with the 2016 collection was to design something new, something that has never been done or seen before. Evoke new emotions and get the viewer to stop and look twice.

After an inspirational trip to London, a city with shifting colours, rain shimmering pavements and dramatic buildings, the design team at Kashall started to develop new yarn blends, patterns and colours. With the chief designer Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg as team leader, sharing her knowledge, and curiosity the design team outwitted the techniuque and found new ways of creating patterns and surfaces. Based on Kasthall’s strong traditions within craftsmanship, they have pushed the boundaries forward and created new unexpected design statements. The result is what can be seen in Archipelago, a novelty for 2016 and also a tribute to the designer Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg. A collection, which became one of Gunilla’s last projects before she passed away in December 2015. Archipelago will be launched at Stockholm Furniture Fair and at Salone del Mobile 2016, a new exciting collection of hand tufted carpets by Kasthall designer Maja Johans- son will be launched as well as a collection of hand printed carpets, a collaboration between Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg and Maja Johansson.

The collection will be launch in two models, Archipelago March inspired by a cool early spring day and a darker carpet that reminds one of a beautiful autumn day.

Material: Hand tufted carpet in fine wool and linen with elements of lurex.
Pile: 11/22 mm
Colours: March 200, November 700
